It has been a while since my last post, and that’s because I really wanted to improve at painting in oils first and to have something decent to show for it. This is taking MUCH longer than I’d hoped however, so for the time-being this is going to have to do. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the mindfulness of the process of creating them, and I’ve learned how to turn out an OK picture in 2 or 3 hours instead of a mud slick after 14 hours. Hurray! 😀
Richard Schmid’s book Alla Prima II has been very illuminating on the vast and complex medium of oils – I recommend it.
I have other projects to attend to but I look forward to further attempts at still lifes and portraiture when those other art commissions are complete.
